60 dead in drug-gang violence in Colombia

Colombia’s Catatumbo region, on the border with Venezuela, was attacked by a rebel group called National Liberation Army (ELN). This attack left 60 people dead, with more than 20 people kidnapped. This attack broke the truce between the guerrilla groups in this region, which have been negotiating peace with the Colombian government. The control of this region is critical to the cocaine trade which has long plagued these South American countries.

Let’s Pray:

Father Lord, we pray for the comfort and consolation of the hearts of those affected by this violence. We pray for the safe release of those kidnapped and for a change of hearts of their captors. We ask for peace to prevail in this region and neighboring regions affected by drug gang violences. We ask all this in Your mighty name, Jesus. Amen.

The Lord will give strength to His people;
The Lord will bless His people with peace.

Psalm 29:11
