Amidst the challenges we face every day, how do I know what to do?
The Bible gives the answers. “He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (Psalm 46:10). What an assurance we have in Jesus Christ! Of course, it doesn’t mean that you just need to sleep and do nothing. The same Bible also says, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.” (Ecclesiastes 9:10). The same God who walks before us and fights our battles (2 Chronicles 20:15-17) at times also wants us to take our armor and fight the enemies (e.g., Joshua 8). Sometimes, He wants us to praise Him and see the deliverance of the Lord (2 Chronicles 20). At another time, He wants us to march against the walls, and He tears down the walls for us (Joshua 6). However, we still need to carry our armor and run straight in to conquer the city once the walls collapse (Joshua 6).
In whatever scenario, His promise stands still: He will never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” (Psalm 46:1-3, 11). Whatever actions He wants us to take, we know that the deliverance is only in God; we can’t boast about anything but Him alone (Isaiah 45:24-25).
Today, I want to remind you to rely on Him and His strength. Ask Him what strategy I should use, what action I should take, and how I deal with these questions I have. And He promised, He will answer when we call.
““This is God’s Message, the God who made earth, made it livable and lasting,
Jeremiah 33:2-3 (MSG)
known everywhere as God: ‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous
and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’”
