A hydroelectric dam burst, triggering a flash flood that killed 30 people in southern Brazil. In Rio Grande do Sul state, which was already flooded following heavy rains as a result of the El Nino phenomenon, the dam located between Cotiporã and Bento Gonçalves collapsed sending 6.6 ft high waves through the region. Rescue efforts are underway now, with more than 60 people missing.

Father, we ask in faith that you would comfort and rescue those who are in distress because of the flooding. We pray for our hedge of protection and care around them and their families. Lead the rescuers to those who are still missing, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
