The Fourth Commandment calls us to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. God gives us six days to work, but the seventh day is set apart as the Sabbath of the Lord (Exodus 20:9–10). Just as God rested after creation (Exodus 20:11), He established the Sabbath not as a burden, but as a gracious gift—for our spiritual and physical renewal. Jesus said, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27). Rest is a priceless gift for us from God. The Sabbath is a priceless gift made for us by a loving God 

Receive the Gift of Rest

Accept God’s gift of one day of rest each week. Humbly acknowledge that we need it. Sabbath rest is an act of trust, ceasing from work to remember that God alone is our Provider. As we lay down worry, striving, and self-reliance,  we turn our full focus toward Him. This is a day to realign our hearts, deepen our love for God, and delight in His presence.

Honor God in Your Rest

We honor the Lord not only through diligent work but also through our willingness to rest. Embrace the Sabbath as a holy day, set apart for worship, renewal, and spiritual joy, and step into the blessing and restoration God has prepared for you.

Reflection: In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and spent six days creating all that is in Heaven and on Earth. And on the seventh day, He saw that all that He had made was good, and so He rested from all the work He had done. So this day is a reminder for us to relax and not overwork, but also a moment to cherish and appreciate the work God did when He created the world.

Daily Prayer: Dear Father, help us to rest in You, help us to keep the Sabbath set apart from the other days, to give honor and praise to what You have completed in Your creation, and the completion You’ve made in our spirits in Christ and His sacrifice on the cross. Lord, we give thanks to You for showing us what it means to rest; thank You for showing us and giving us a way to stop and reflect in Your presence, and for the work that You have done in us and in the world. In Jesus’ name, let us continue to rest when needed, to reflect on You, Your Word, and Your Spirit, and to keep this special day holy, Amen.
