Day 5: A Shield from Evil

Jabez understood that a life of blessing also requires divine protection. His prayer, “that You would keep me from evil,” echoes the very prayer Jesus made for His disciples. He knew that our true battles are not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of darkness.

We cannot rely on our own strength or human defenses to keep us safe. As Psalm 127 reminds us, “Unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” We must daily ask for God’s protection from the unseen threats that surround us.

When we are under God’s protection, we can trust His promises. He assures us in Psalm 91 that we need not fear the terrors of the night or the destruction that strikes at midday. He gives His angels charge over us to keep us in all our ways, ensuring no evil will befall us.

Our warfare is spiritual, and our weapons are mighty through God. To fight and win these battles, we must use the Word of God in our prayers and supplications. We have been given the authority to cast out evil spirits and declare God’s protection over our lives.

Prayer Focus: Pray for God’s daily protection over yourself, your family, and your work. Stand firm on the promise that “no weapon formed against you shall prosper.”

Daily Prayer: O God, my Defender and Shield, keep me and my family from all evil. I declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. Thank You for commanding Your angels to guard us in all our ways, ensuring that no harm or destruction comes near our dwelling. Amen.
