Deliverance

Psalm of Deliverance and Divine Comfort

I
Save me, O Lord, from the chains of addiction;
Break the power of darkness that seeks to bind my soul.
Rescue me from the shadow of despair,
And lead my wandering heart back into Your rest.

II
Satisfy the deep longings of my taste with Your love;
For the wine of this world leaves me empty and dry.
Pour out Your Holy Spirit to refresh my weary spirit,
Lead me beside the fountain of living water and wash me with hyssop.

III
Bring me the true comfort that only You can provide;
Be my refuge in the hour of weakness and my strength in the storm.
Restore my soul, quiet my mind, and set my feet upon the rock, for You are my Solid Rock,
Let my life, O God, testify to Your redeeming power forever.
I bless the Lord, the Rock of my salvation.
Amen.

The Heart of the Prayer: “True comfort is not found at the bottom of a cup, but in the healing embrace of the Savior.”

This psalm is a courageous cry of total surrender and a seeking of holy refuge. It confronts the reality of addiction and the spirit of darkness, not with shame, but with radical honesty and an unwavering trust in God’s power to deliver and satisfy.

It embodies three crucial movements of recovery and grace:

  • Honest Confession and Cry for Deliverance: Breaking the silence of bondage by calling upon the Lord to shatter the heavy chains of addiction and spiritual oppression.
  • A Shift in Desire: Recognizing that deep cravings are often a misplaced search for spiritual fulfillment. It asks God to sanctify the heart’s appetites, replacing fleeting earthly escapes with the living water that truly satisfies.
  • Sovereign Comfort and Renewal: Looking away from temporary numbness and turning toward the everlasting comfort of the Holy Spirit—finding the strength to stand firm, heal, and walk in freedom.

May this prayer bring lasting peace to your heart today, reminding you that no habit is stronger than God’s redeeming power, and no valley is too deep for His restoring love.
