Despite a peace process, rebels in DR Congo killed 140 civilians

According to a Human Rights Watch report, M23 rebels killed at least 140 people in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo last month. This is one of the worst atrocities by the armed group since their resurgence in late 2021, and it occurred despite a peace process brokered by the US and Qatar.

Let’s Pray:

Blessed be the name of the Lord God of hosts forever and ever, for Your throne and kingdom reign from everlasting to everlasting. Father, according to Your great mercy and lovingkindness, forgive the sins and take away the iniquities of the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Cleanse the nation from bloodshed and fortify the entire land with Your mighty hand. Lord, cause the rebels to surrender their arms and turn from their wicked ways, so that You may forgive their iniquity and transgression. You are our defense and the stronghold of Zion; defend the lives of the innocent being tortured and slaughtered without cause. Lord, deliver the people from the hands of their oppressors. Father, like the floodgates of heaven, let the knowledge and the fear of the Lord pour upon this whole nation. May the fear of God rest upon the hearts of the rebels, giving them a spirit of repentance and meekness. God, cut off the hands of the enemies defrauding and depriving the people of peace and causing unrest and confusion. Father, let the love and peace of Christ Jesus, which surpasses all understanding, be restored and multiplied in the country. Let people begin to love one another and live in the riches of Your abundant peace and unity with joy evermore. Thank You, Father, for Your victory and for allowing the peace talks to be agreed upon and established. Thank You, Lord, that by Your wisdom You have resolved and calmed the situation and rebuilt the nation. May Your grace and mercy now abound toward the people of the DR Congo forever and always. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

“And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.”
