Latter Rain

Psalm of Holy Rain and Renewed Strength

I
In quietness, I will hear Your voice, O Lord, with my whole heart,
For Your word is sweet as honey;
You are the one true God, my comfort and my peace.
Like Aaron, You anointed my head with fresh oil and guide my steps,
That I may behold the beauty of Your glorious majesty.

II
Though distractions pull toward ruin, Your righteousness prevails;
In days of trial and temptation, keep my faith from failing.
Let heaven release the former and latter rain,
Sanctifying my soul and filling me with Your Spirit anew.

III
You have made me an instrument in Your right hand, like the staff in Moses’ hand.
As the Good Samaritan, may I have a heart that cares for the poor and needy;
My burden and shame, You have removed, and I am clothed in a new garment of honor with favor.

IV
Hallowed is Your holy name, eternal God Almighty—
From the depths of our hearts, we will praise You forevermore!
For the whole earth proclaims Your glory, as heaven declares Your works, and no one is like You, O LORD our God!
Amen.

The Heart of the Prayer: “When God speaks, rain falls on dry ground—weakness vanishes, and strength is renewed.”

This psalm carries the deep hunger of a believer who desires nothing less than God’s voice, God’s presence, and God’s purpose. It moves away from the noise and distractions of the world to anchor itself entirely in the divine authority of the Almighty.

It reflects three vital postures of faith:

  • Surrender to the Voice of God: Seeking the Lord’s direction above all else, knowing that His Word alone anoints, guides, and protects the heart from distraction and spiritual defeat.
  • A Desire to Be Used: Praying not just for personal blessing, but asking to become the hands and feet of God—”an answer to someone’s prayer today”—so that His glory flows outward to others.
  • Restoration and Heavenly Abundance: Embracing the “latter rain” of the Holy Spirit, which purifies the soul, replaces heavy shame with divine honor, and establishes everlasting peace.

May this prayer inspire you to listen closely for His voice today, walk in His steadfast grace, and be a light of hope to someone in need.
