My Beloved

My Beloved, more beautiful than any rose or star,
It is impossible to compare the beauty of You to anything else.
Your feet like a white lion’s tread,
Your eyes are purer, brighter than snow,
With fire in Your eyelids bred.

Your right hand’s rod gives true direction,
And the staff in Your left performs wonders anew.
Your arms, long like a bamboo’s perfection,
Your ears hear every word that is amiable.

Your voice travels the earth like a wind,
No language, You cannot understand.
Your presence, a Solid Rock, firm and unpinned,
No giant can stand before You on land.

I love Your fragrance, a perfume from Lebanon,
Your name is honored, Your presence is dear.
I will walk with You from dusk until dawn,
Where You lay Your head, I will sleep without fear.

Your bed is fashioned from threads of pure gold,
Your pavilion holds treasures of light.
Your splendor, like a train, can’t be told,
It fills the whole atmosphere, brilliant and bright.

A part of me longs to see my Beloved face to face.
As there is fire in my soul, burning for You.
And like a lily among thorns,
So is my Beloved among all the beautiful creatures.

We will set a table only for you and I,
Let my delicacies be to seek Your desire and forever adore You.
My glass of wine to praise and worship You under the sky,
For above my chief joy, my Beloved will be exalted in the sight of all nations,
Forever and ever and evermore.
