Ruth 1:7 shows us the momentum of restoration. It is the precise moment where the soles of their feet hit the dirt road leading away from tragedy and toward destiny. It reminds us that no matter how deep into “foreign territory” we have traveled, the road home is always open the moment we decide to take the first step of faith. This prayer is your Daily Course Correction, ensuring your feet are pointing toward the House of Praise. The text notes that Naomi “went out from the place where she was.” True change requires physical or intentional movement. You cannot experience the harvest of your “Judah” if you refuse to pack up and leave your “Moab.” Identify one habit or mindset you need to go out from today. Naomi didn’t just walk alone; “her two daughters-in-law [were] with her.” When you make a decision to return to God, your obedience creates a path for others to follow. Your personal devotion has a ripple effect on your family and community.
Let’s Pray
O Lord, my Father, the God of Israel, I come to the end of myself today and surrender all to You. Like the prodigal son, I arise and return to my Father (Luke 15:18). I choose to leave my old life and my places of wandering and compromise, just as Naomi left Moab to return to Judah, Your holy land. As I return to You, restore me, O Lord. Though I have experienced hardships in the world, I have learned that nothing satisfies me like Your presence. Lord Jesus, forgive my wanderings away from Your presence and from the place You ordained for me. Cleanse me by Your grace, for I know there is great joy in heaven when a sinner repents (Luke 15:10). I forsake my own ways and thoughts, turning to You for Your abundant pardon (Isaiah 55:7). Lead me through the narrow gate and guide me along the path of righteousness. Hold my right hand so that my steps do not slip (Matthew 7:14). My God, O that You will make restitution for all my mistakes and bring me back to life in Christ. I declare today that a single day in Your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather stand at the threshold of Your house than dwell in the tents of wickedness (Psalm 84:10). I come to sit at Your feet, to receive, hear, and learn Your wisdom, and to embrace Your kingdom. Fill my heart with a song of praise, for You are my song, and as I draw near to You, trusting Your promise that You will draw near to me. O my King, in Your presence is fullness of joy, and at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. In the precious and glorious name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
