Wildfires ignited by drought-like conditions in the western state of California, United States, has killed 11 people, displaced over 180,000 people from their homes and has destroyed an estimated 10,000 homes and other structures so far in its third-day. The initial damage is assessed to be over a whooping 150 billion dollars, with the figure only expected to rise further after the fires. The fires which are not yet fully contained have spread over 37,000 acres of land thus far and are being driven even further by high-speed winds coming in from the desert called the ‘Santa Ana winds.’ The fire department is further fighting other challenges due to poor governance; like the lack of water in the fire hydrants, into which an enquiry has been ordered by the State Governor.
Let’s Pray:
Father Lord, we pray and seek comfort and restoration in the lives of people who have lost everything in these fires. We ask for a miraculous intervention for California by sending forth rain that would quell these fires. We pray for the safety and strength of the firefighters and other volunteers aiding in fighting the fire. We pray for wisdom in the hearts of the leaders to aid all the affected people. In Jesus’ name, we ask. Amen.
