As Syria’s past cruel leader, Bashar al-Assad, was ousted. This has made way only for another leader to rise in his stead, Ahmad al-Sharaa. Since taking over as interim President of Syria from 29th of January this year, the nation has plunged into deeper darkness and violence’s. Factions of fighters raided villages in the Alawite neighborhood, gunning down more than 700 civilians and 300 fighters, many families completely wiped out in their very homes. In what is touted to be revenge killings of all former Assad loyalists, who belonged to this minority sect Alawite, an offshoot of Shia Islam in the Sunni majority Syria. Peace and unity has been called for by the interim president, as former president Assad’s loyalists regroup and plan their attacks. And civilians and innocents can only flee their homes and cower in fear at the bloodshed that surrounds them.
Let’s Pray:
Father Lord, we pray and ask for Your grace and mercies to cover the violence-torn nation of Syria. We plead Your comfort to overshadow those who are mourning at this time. We ask for peace to fill the streets and hearts of all fighters. We rebuke the spirit of bloodshed in this nation, in Jesus’ mighty name. And ask for the salvation of every Syrian. Amen.
In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines
