As One Man

As One Man: Bold Stand, Sacred Unity, and Single Purpose

The Dual Power of “As One Man”

Throughout history, God’s greatest victories have been won by leaders who refused to let fear dictate their posture. Whether standing alone in a lions’ den or marching together as an undivided army, God’s people carry unstoppable authority when they move with single-minded conviction. Discover what happens when a leader step out in personal courage and unite as one man before the Lord.

What does it mean to stand “as one man”? In Scripture, it reveals a powerful dual truth: the courage of an individual who knows God is with them in the wilderness, and the supernatural power of a Church gathered with one heart, one soul, and one spirit(Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭32, Jeremiah 32:39). When we stop fearing solitude and start pursuing true Kingdom unity, darkness has no choice but to bow. Throughout the Scriptures, the phrase “As One Man” carries two profound spiritual dimensions:

  1. Individual Boldness: Standing alone without fear against impossible odds because God is with you.
  2. Corporate Unity: The Church, families, and a nation coming together under God with one heart, one soul, and one spirit.

A lion never fears walking alone, whether by day or by night. In the same way, the mighty men and women of God throughout history cultivated an unshakeable mindset: when God is on your side, standing alone is never lonely, and one person with God is always a majority (2 Kings 6:16)!

1. Standing Alone: The Boldness of One

When God calls a servant, He guarantees His presence. He told Gideon when facing an overwhelming host:

“And the Lord said to him, ‘Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.’” — Judges 6:16

Consider the great heroes of faith who stood before the world as “one man”:

[ INDIVIDUAL BOLDNESS IN GOD ]

* JESUS CHRIST →  The Son of God stood As One Man, offered Himself to take away the sins of the world (1 John 2:2, John 1:29).

* DAVID →  As One Man, faced Goliath in the name of the Lord of Hosts (1 Samuel 17:45-46).

* SAMSON →  As One Man, brought down the Philistine temple through God’s strength (Judges 16:30).

* DANIEL →  As One Man, stood firm in prayer and faced the lions’ den (Daniel 6:16).

* JOSEPH   →  As One Man, endured betrayal and slavery to preserve a nation (Genesis 37:28).

* MOSES   →  As One Man, led Israel through the Red Sea and forty years in the wilderness (Exodus 14:21-22).

* JOSHUA   →  As One Man, stepped into leadership to possess the Promised Land (Joshua 1:1-2).

* Elijah   →  As One Man, fought fifty men and he consumed them with fire! (II Kings‬ ‭1‬:‭10).

Why did God lead Israel through the wilderness with Moses for forty years? To humble them, test them, and reveal what was in their hearts (Deuteronomy 8:2), while supernaturally providing so that their clothes and sandals never wore out (Deuteronomy 29:5). When you stand alone with God in your personal wilderness, He sustains you completely.

2. Coming Together: The Power of Kingdom Unity

While God empowers individuals to stand alone, His ultimate desire for His Church is corporate unity—gathering His people to act, pray, and worship as if they were a single man.

Look at how Israel responded during times of spiritual alignment:

  • Gathered Before the Lord: “So all the children of Israel came out, from Dan to Beersheba… and the congregation gathered together as one man before the Lord at Mizpah.” (Judges 20:1)
  • Decisive Alignment: “So all the people arose as one man, saying, ‘None of us will go to his tent…’” (Judges 20:8)
  • United Against the Enemy: “So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, united together as one man.” (Judges 20:11)

[ THE CALL TO KINGDOM UNITY ]

ONE HEARTONE VOICE
Unified Purpose & MindAgreed Prayer & Worship
OUTCOME:
An Unstoppable Church Moving “As One Man”

God is calling the Body of Christ today to step out of division and isolate themselves no longer. When the Church comes together under His tent—having one heart, one soul, one spirit, and speaking one language of faith—the kingdom of darkness cannot prevail against it.

3. The Ultimate Pattern: Leading as One Man in Christ

For leaders in the church, homes, and nations, true unity is not built on human personality or political strategy—it is rooted in the divine oneness of the Godhead.

Jesus walked the earth as one man, yet He lived in perfect, unbroken alignment with the Father and the Spirit:

“I and My Father are one.” — John 10:30

God’s desire is for tribes, nations, and communities to gather together as one people. However, godly leaders must recognize a crucial distinction: True leaders lead as one man in Christ, not as one man in themselves.

In His high priestly prayer, Jesus revealed the divine blueprint for leadership and Kingdom alignment:

“…that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one…” — John 17:21–23

When leaders operate out of self-reliance, they divide. But when leaders yield to Christ, they reflect the harmony of the Trinity—drawing nations and people together under one Lord, one faith, and one Spirit. The great leaders lead by faith, rather than sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Leaders need to be brave, strong, and courageous, knowing that God is with them. When a righteous leader leads in truth and love, in the fear of God, God cannot abandon him.

Conclusion: Rise and Stand

Your leadership is a response to God’s calling. Whether God calls you to stand alone like Daniel in a lion’s den, or to march alongside your brothers and sisters in corporate unity like Israel at Mizpah, remember: As a leader, you have nothing to fear when the Lord of Hosts is with you. We have Jesus on our side, who is never against us. In the same way as David, you can also say, ”For by You I can run against a troop, by my God I can leap over a wall.” (Psalms‬ ‭18‬:‭28‬-‭29). Stand firm, be courageous, and let us rise together as one man for the glory of His name, Jesus Christ!

Prayer:

O Lord of Hosts, God of our salvation, grant me the holy boldness to stand firm in faith and not by sight, even if I must stand alone as a leader. Remind my soul that with You on my side, I am more than a conqueror, for You are my shield, my strength, and my deliverer (Judges 6:16). At the same time, Lord, bring Your Church into sacred alignment. Unite our hearts, minds, and voices as one man before Your throne (Judges 20:1). Tear down division in the Body of Christ and gather us under Your banner so that we may pray, worship, and advance Your Kingdom together with unshakeable purpose. Whether in the solitude of my personal wilderness or united alongside my brothers and sisters, let Your presence lead the way now and forever. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

“Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.” ‭‭

‭‭— Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭32‬ ‭NKJV+
