Welcome into 2024! We believe this year will be a beautiful and exciting year for all those who take refuge in the Lord Jesus. Therefore, at the onset of this year, we want to invite you to “wait on the Lord”. The theme verse is taken from Psalm 27:14, “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”

If we look at some heroes of faith in the Bible, we quickly realize that they waited for a long time until they received what was promised. Abraham waited 25 years to see the materialization of His promise through His son, Isaac. Joseph was sold by his brothers, enslaved and imprisoned, before his dreams came true. David was anointed to be king, yet he was on the run from his jealous father-in-law, pretended to be a mad person, and waited for a long time before becoming the king of Israel. Jesus Himself waited for 30 years before He started His ministry. If they all had to wait, chances are, we also have to.

Maybe you are in the middle of a storm at this moment, waiting for it to pass. Perhaps you are facing a lot of challenges daily, waiting for quiet and peaceful days. Are you waiting for prayer answers that haven’t come yet? Do you see yourself walking in a dark tunnel that seems endless? Or are you looking for a purpose and waiting for God to show you what He wants to do with your life? In whichever season you are in your life, there is or will be waiting involved, sooner or later. Therefore, we pray that the Holy Spirit will lead you and help you go through it with expectant hearts and eyes to see beyond the current circumstance into what God has prepared for you. As we navigate through this devotional together, let us open our ears and listen to the secrets that the Holy Spirit wants to reveal from the heart of the Father.

Prayer: 

God, please open my eyes so that I may see things from Your perspective. Align my heart to Yours, so that even when I do not understand everything going on, I will choose to wait on You and be thankful for everything You want to teach me. Help me to be able to trust and obey You through it all, for I know that Your thoughts towards me are excellent and You only give the best to Your beloved children. Amen.
