We thank God, for we believe that He has renewed our heart, taking out the stubborn heart of stone to replace it with a new heart of flesh. Now we are ready for the next step that God speaks about through the prophet Jeremiah:

“I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord, because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord.” -Jeremiah 31:33-34

God wants us to know Him personally. Intimately. Directly. To have access to Him without needing an intermediate like a pastor or priest. He wants to be our teacher, our guide, our master, our friend, our Father. He wants us to feel comfortable sharing our joys, sorrows and struggles with Him, to know who He is and what His plan is for us. This is why He gave us a new heart, one on which He could write His perfect law. He instructed prophets and scribes throughout history to speak and write on His behalf (2 Timothy 3:16), so that all who seek Him wholeheartedly would be able to find Him (Jeremiah 29:13). This is why He sent His son to this earth: to reveal the Father to mankind (Matthew 11:27).

Today, let us return to Jesus, the Word of God made flesh (John 1:1-5). Let us return to the Bible: the compilation of teachings, stories and prophecies from and about Jesus. Let us meditate on this written word so we may know God and know His law and principles about love, life, money, community, family, worship and so much more. Let us go back to the Word of God, the spiritual milk that feeds our souls and spirit (1 Peter 2:2).

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” -Joshua 1:8

Prayer points for today

• Ask God for consistency in meditating on the Bible, and for Him to be your teacher as you study His Word.
• Ask God to transform you and turn your life around as you meditate His Word.
• Ask God to help you in your unbelief and replace your doubts with unwavering Faith in His Word.
• Pray that God will help you always hunger and thirst for His Word, and never get bored or tired of His presence.
• Pray that God would help you live in accordance with His commandments.
