Fear and timidity are issues we have all struggled with at some point in life, and maybe are still struggling with. The dictionary defines timidity as “Fearfulness in venturing into new and unknown places or activities”, while fear , included in the definition of timidity, is defined as “an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm’’. Whatever it is in your life that produces fear or timidity in you, we encourage you to realize that in Christ Jesus, you have received a new spirit, one that is completely free from their grip!

“God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline.”

-2 Timothy 1:7 (AMP)

Fear comes from a threat, either an actual one or a perceived one. In reality, we are not afraid of the threat itself, but of what we anticipate, what we think will follow. When we are afraid to share the gospel, it is because we are afraid to be rejected or judged by the listener. When we are afraid of dying, it is because we do not know what comes next and are afraid of what it could be… and the list goes on and on. Life would probably be less fearful if we knew what the future holds, but here’s the thing: we don’t, and we never will. However, here’s the good part: though we do not know what the future holds, we know who holds it! Jesus promised to be with us until the very end (Matthew 28:20), so no matter what threats we face, let us silence all the noise caused by the possible frightening outcomes, and choose to dwell in the perfect love of Christ, because love casts all fears (1 John 4:18) and faith in Him is all we need to overcome our fears! Claim your victory over fear and timidity today, and whenever you will be facing a threat, remember God’s words below to you:

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
