Day 8: The Power of a Righteous Prayer

Jabez prayed, and God immediately granted his request.‘’So God granted him what he requested.”’’ The reason for such a swift and powerful answer is simple: Jabez was a noble and honorable man who delighted in the ways of the Lord as we have read in day-7.

God hears every prayer, but the motives behind our petitions matter. When our prayers are aligned with God’s promises and purpose for our lives, we can expect a quick answer. As a result, faith plays an important role in praying, and if you pray, make sure you pray with understanding and honor God, sing praise to the Lord, worship His holy name, and study His word daily. As you continue to walk with God, pray with a pure and humble heart, trusting that whatever you ask in the name of Jesus, the Father will give you.

Prayer Focus: Pray with a pure and humble heart. Confess your trespasses and ask God to align your prayers with His will. Believe that whatever you ask in Jesus’ name, the Father will give you, and that He will answer your request, just as He answered Jabez.

Daily Prayer: Lord, I pray with a pure and humble heart, trusting that You hear me. Align my requests with Your promises and purpose for my life. I believe and receive my answers, just as You granted the request of Jabez. May my prayers be fervent and effective in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Bible Verse:

  • “And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.” I Chronicles‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬
  • ‘’Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name’’ 1 Chronicles 4:9
  • ‘’Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.’’ James 5:16
  • Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.’’ John 16:24
  • ‘’Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.’’ Mark 11:24
  • ‘’but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” Acts 6:4
  • ‘’What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.’’ 1 Corinthians 14:15
