A Psalm of Divine Adoration and Purging
I
Behold, you are as graceful as the dove in the cleft of the rock;
In the sight of the King, you are more precious than silver,
More precious than the finest gold of Ophir.
You are like a treasure that is hidden in the fields of the Lord.
Your heart is a vintage of new wine and fresh oil,
And your soul sparkles with the radiance of the morning star.
II
For the Lord shall come as a thief in the silent watch,
Clothed in might to break the iron bonds of the wicked.
He shall cast down the idols and trample the altars of vanity;
He shall crush the head of the serpents and smash the locusts with the edge of the sword.
His Spirit flows as a rushing river to wash the transgressions of the land.
III
Purify us, O Lord, in the furnace of Your Word;
For Your truth is a fire that nothing can withstand.
Reign over us with justice, yet let mercy be Your final decree;
Discipline us with the tenderness of a Father’s love,
And beautify our lives with the ornament of Your holiness.
IV
Speak to the nations in the whisper of Your compassion;
Grant us a season of grace, that we might not squander the hour.
Let the Creator of heaven and earth arise in His glory,
That the ends of the world may behold His salvation
And the sovereignty of His Name be exalted forevermore.
V
Though we are but fragile vessels of common clay,
A precious vessel, yet we carry within us the weight of Your eternal glory.
Cover our shame with the mantle of Your righteousness,
And let the earth yield to the scepter of the King of kings.
VI
May the Lord find favor in His people and bless us with Shalom;
May His love be our law and His mercy our dwelling place.
As the clock counts, so let the eyes of our Lord watch over us as we go about our day now and forever. Amen.
We often feel like “common clay”—fragile, easily broken, and marked by our struggles. But this Psalm reminds us that God sees us differently. To Him, you are as graceful as a dove and more valuable than gold.
The same Spirit that flows like a “rushing river” to wash away the sins of a nation is the same Spirit that “beautifies our lives” with holiness. Today, let the King of Kings break every bond of the wicked in our midst and replace it with His mantle of righteousness.
“Though we are but fragile vessels… yet we carry within us the weight of His eternal glory.”
