Iran War Nears End of Fifth Week as Death Toll and Displacement Soar

As of April 3, 2026, the U.S.–Israel war with Iran has entered its fifth week, with Iran firing missiles and drones at targets across the Middle East while American and Israeli airstrikes continue to hit sites inside the country. The conflict has killed more than 1,900 people in Iran, at least 19 in Israel, and dozens more across Gulf states and the occupied West Bank, while over 1,300 have died and more than one million people have been displaced in Lebanon amid Israel’s ground operations against Hezbollah. Control of the Strait of Hormuz remains a major concern, as Iran’s actions there and the threat to global oil flows are driving economic instability and deepening humanitarian needs in multiple nations.

Let’s Pray:

Lord Jesus, we bring before You this fifth week of war centered on Iran and spreading across the Middle East. You see every life already lost, every family displaced in Lebanon, Iran, Israel, and the Gulf, and every person terrified by sirens, explosions, and the uncertainty of tomorrow—have mercy on them, O God. Stretch out Your hand to restrain missiles, drones, and airstrikes; frustrate strategies that seek escalation and open doors instead for ceasefires, diplomacy, and honest peace-making. Grant wisdom and the fear of the Lord to leaders in Tehran, Jerusalem, Washington, and the Arab capitals, that they would value human life above power or pride and work for de-escalation. Remember the poor who suffer most when oil routes are threatened and economies shake—protect jobs, food supplies, and basic services for ordinary families around the world who are being drawn into this crisis indirectly. Strengthen Your church throughout the region to stand as a light in the darkness, caring for the displaced, praying without ceasing, and boldly proclaiming the hope of the gospel. Let this long night of war lead many to repentance and to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. In His mighty name we pray, Amen.

“He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.”

Psalm 46:9 NKJV
