Have mercy on us

Great and awesome God, have mercy on us.

Lord, we confess that we have wronged You,
Our evil deeds are countless before Your sight.
If you were to drag us to court, who would defend us?
For we are guilty as charged, each and every one of us.
Though we have sinned against You, Abba,
Will You wage war against our land?
You are stronger and mightier than us, we do not stand a chance!
Even if all the nations in the earth came together with their military might
We would not withstand Your almighty power.

Father, remember that we are Your creatures,
made in Your image and Your likeness.
Father, remember that You are slow to anger,
Full of mercy, and ready to save the humble.
Will You not pardon our iniquities and forgive our evil deeds?
Or will You be angry with Your people forever?
Faithful God, do not judge us in Your wrath, instead have mercy on us.
Hear us when we call, Lord, hear our prayer, in Jesus’ name.
