Heavy rains and floods in Punjab, India, have killed at least 30 people

In the northern Indian state of Punjab, at least 30 people are dead and over 354,000 residents have been affected by what authorities are calling the worst floods since 1988. Heavy rains have caused rivers and reservoirs to rise to dangerous levels, submerging 1,400 villages and leading officials to declare all 23 districts as flood-hit.

Let’s Pray:

Righteous and mighty God, You are full of compassion. We ask You to look down from heaven above on the people and nation of India. We call on You for help, because You are our only helper, and we trust You will answer in this time of trouble. Lord, have mercy and stop the flooding. Speak Your word to cease the rain and calm the land. Rescue the villages from danger, and remember Your promise to Noah that You would not destroy the earth with water again. Please hear the cry of Your people, bringing relief and comfort to everyone affected. Protect them, fill them with Your joy and love, and strengthen them. Give the authorities wisdom and support. Father Lord, we praise You and give You all the glory for Your help, believing that the storm will pass and the nation will return to a peaceful state. In Jesus’ name, amen.

“Thus I establish My covenant with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood; never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

~‭‭Genesis 9:11
