How long, Lord?

This prayer draws from Habakkuk, a prophet who didn’t just pray—he wrestled. By asking “How long?”, you aren’t showing a lack of faith; you are showing the intensity of your faith. You only ask “How long?” of someone you know who has the power to change the outcome and who alone has the final say. Like Habakkuk and Job, you are bringing your “violence” and your “heavy yokes” to God, the only One of Israel who can move mountains and bear the burdens of the whole world, and not be shaken.

Let’s Pray

Abba Father, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Job, I come to You with the burden of Habakkuk. Lord, how long shall I cry and You not hear? I cry out “Violence!” and “Trouble!” yet the weight remains. My heart is heavy, and my tears have become my constant companion. My burdens feel like a mountain, crushing my spirit; my situation grows tough, and the path feels narrow. You have said Your hand is not too short to save, yet the silence feels long. I cast my worries upon You now, for I cannot bear this yoke alone. Plead my cause, O Lord! Even in the waiting, I choose to stay at Your feet. I will not turn away, and I will not let go. I will wait for Your voice and trust in Your strength until the deliverance comes. I will wait on You, Lord. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

“The burden which the prophet Habakkuk saw. O Lord, how long shall I cry, And You will not hear? Even cry out to You, “Violence!” And You will not save.” ‭‭

‭‭ Habakkuk‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NKJV
