The Hidden Cost

Let’s Pray

How excellent is Your name in all the earth, O Lord! Your Word says that one day in Your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere, yet I confess that like Jonah, I have often chosen to flee. I have prioritized my own comfort and the lifestyle I fashioned for myself over Your clear instructions. I have strayed like the prodigal son, trying to find pleasure in paths that lead away from You. Lord, I recognize now that there is always a “fare” to pay when I run. I have paid the price in peace, purpose, and joy by neglecting the calling You assigned to me. I see that my own lead is untrustworthy and my self-reliance is a burden. Forgive me for the times I have turned toward “Tarshish” when You called me to “Nineveh.” I come back to You today with a broken and humble heart. I believe that the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross is the only price that matters—His grace is enough to cover my disobedience. Make me teachable, Lord. Help me to depend on Your constant presence and to trust Your path, even when I do not understand the destination. Transform me into an obedient child who honors You in all things. Stop me from “going down” into the ships of my own making and help me to “arise” into the destiny You have called me. I choose Your presence over my own plans today and forever. In the faithful name of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Amen.

“But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.”

‭‭ Jonah‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
