Today’s article outlines a major escalation in cross-border air warfare between Russia and Ukraine, unfolding alongside critical diplomatic maneuvers aimed at forcing an end to the four-year conflict. A dual reality of intensified drone warfare and delicate geopolitical coordination marks this latest phase of the war. In a massive overnight operation, Ukraine launched hundreds of drones deep into Russian territory. For the second time in a week, drones successfully struck the Moscow oil refinery in the Kapotnya district, igniting fires and further crippling Russia’s domestic fuel supply. The ongoing campaign against energy infrastructure has forced Russia—traditionally a major exporter—to plan sea-based fuel imports to stave off a severe domestic gasoline shortage. The drone waves triggered widespread disruptions in the Moscow region, damaging residential buildings and industrial facilities. Sheremetyevo Airport, Moscow’s busiest transit hub, was forced to briefly suspend flights and evacuate passengers to parking areas. Simultaneously, Russia unleashed ballistic missiles and drones on the Ukrainian capital and surrounding regions. Casualties were reported across the country, including a fatality in Sumy, just days after a prior Russian strike devastated a historic 1,000-year-old monastery in Kyiv. On the sidelines of a G7 summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy engaged in high-level “coordinating conversations” with U.S. President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron. Zelenskyy is seeking international leverage and defense support to position Ukraine advantageously for a potential peace deal, as the Trump administration presses for a settlement. Trump publicly noted that Russia is sustaining heavy losses, suggesting both sides may be signaling an openness to find an exit to the war.
Let’s Pray:
O God, Your supreme authority and power exceed all nations. We plead and cry out to You with a loud voice as we bring the peoples of Ukraine and Russia before You today, as this war reaches a critical and volatile juncture. Subdue both nations under Your feet, Lord, and command Your divine decree to prevail over human laws. You see the flames over Moscow, the missiles raining down on Kyiv, and the millions of families trapped in the crossfire of this four-year conflict. Arise, O Lord, as we call upon Your name to bring this long battle to a complete end! Stretch out Your hand to protect civilians on both sides of the border. Great is Your faithfulness—show mercy, O Lord. Guard families in high-rise buildings, travelers in transit hubs, and those in frontline communities from the devastation of drones and missiles. Comfort those who are mourning loved ones lost in these latest waves of attacks. We lift up the high-level diplomatic talks between President Zelenskyy, President Trump, President Putin, and global leaders. Break through the pride, stubbornness, and corruption of the warring factions. O Lord, bend the hearts of these leaders toward You, that they may turn to You and seek Your face with total humility and surrender. Shine Your light into the darkness and cause every evil act to halt. Grant these leaders supernatural wisdom, restraint, and an unyielding desire for a peace that is rooted in true justice, safety, and righteousness. Forgive our sins, O LORD, for You are our righteousness. Bring a swift end to the destruction of homes, cultural heritage, and livelihoods. Most High and compassionate God, reveal Yourself to the weary soldiers and terrified citizens as a Refuge. Speak forth Your sovereign word to bring peace into the land, quiet the storm of war, and mend these broken nations. Let Your salvation come, and let Your kingdom reign now and forever, O LORD our God. In Your authoritative, sovereign, and healing name, Jesus, Amen.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will be added to you. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, And if you scoff, you will bear it alone.”
