Worsening Humanitarian Crisis in Mali: Millions Trapped in Hunger and Insecurity

Mali is facing one of the world’s most alarming yet underreported humanitarian crises, driven by armed conflict, climate shocks, and deepening poverty. Armed groups have extended control along major roads, disrupting markets, isolating entire communities, and causing fuel shortages that are crippling hospitals, schools, and basic services. Today, about 6.4 million people need humanitarian assistance, over 400,000 are internally displaced (mostly women and children), and 1.5 million children under five are suffering from acute malnutrition.

Let’s Pray:

Lord Jesus, we lift up the people of Mali who are living under the weight of violence, hunger, and fear, often far from the world’s attention. You see every isolated village, every family displaced from their home, and every child whose body is weakened by malnutrition—have mercy on them, O God. Open safe roads for food, medicine, and fuel to reach those who are cut off, and protect hospitals, clinics, schools, and markets from attacks and collapse. Strengthen and encourage local churches, believers, and humanitarian workers who remain in hard places to serve and to shine Your light; surround them with Your protection and fill them with wisdom and compassion. Confront and restrain those who use violence and terror to control communities, and raise up just leaders who will pursue peace, justice, and care for the most vulnerable. May many in Mali encounter You as their Savior, Healer, and Provider, and may this land experience Your restoration. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.”

Psalm 9:9 NKJV
