In the capital of India, New Delhi, a stampede resulting from overcrowding at a railway station, has left 18 people dead and 10 more injured. The crowd swell is reported to be as the result of large crowds travelling to and fro; to the world’s largest religious festival – Kumbh mela, in the neighboring state. Most among the dead are women and children. And this comes in the wake of 30 people who died last month in a pre-dawn crash at the site of the mela.

Father, we pray and seek Your comfort to rest in the hearts of the grieving souls, bringing peace and rest to their distressed souls. We ask Lord, that the truth of God dwelling in the hearts of people and within those who believe, enlighten their hearts and lead them to seek You. May You reveal Yourself to them today, in Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
