40 dead across American Midwest and south

40 people have died from tornadoes, wildfires and dust storms in the American Midwest and south states. Deadly tornadoes struck the states of Missouri, Alabama and Mississippi, leaving many homes and other buildings as pile of debris in its wake. Down south in the states of Texas and Kansas, high-winds measuring over 100km/h (62mph) raised dust storms, which resulted in massive pile-ups of vehicles resulting in more than 12 deaths. While in Oklahoma, nearly 150 deadly wildfires burnt through 170,000 acres of land and destroyed 300 structures. Many of these states are also currently under flood advisories. Roughly about 1200 tornadoes hit the U.S. each year in the tornado season lasting from March through July.

Let’s Pray:

Father, we ask Your healing and comfort in the hearts and homes of those who have experienced losses in these disasters. We pray for the protection and safety of all the people in these disaster prone areas, especially of the vulnerable folk. We plead by Your mercies, kindness and longsuffering that You would save Your people from every harm. We ask for the heart of America and Americans to turn to You in true repentance. In Jesus’ name, that saves, we pray, Amen.

Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you,
And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
How blessed are all those who long for Him.

Isaiah 30:18
