70 Christians beheaded in DR Congo

The spate of untold violence’s and barbarism in Democratic Republic Congo’s long civil conflict took a gruesome turn this week, with the beheading of 70 Christians. DRC’s long-line of civil conflicts has killed an estimated 6 million since 1996 in this mineral-rich central African nation. The latest violence was perpetrated by the Allied Democratic forces (ADF) who have ties with Islamic state (IS), in Mayba. Among the murdered are women, the elderly and even children, who were killed in the compound of a Protestant church. An estimated 355 people were killed in 2024 alone for their Christian faith.

Let’s Pray:

Father Lord, we remember our brothers and sisters in Congo, who have died for their enduring faith in You and praise You for their glorious return home. We pray as You prayed for Peter for all the Christians in Congo: “but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” We pray for the peace and salvation of every Congolese in Jesus name, Amen.

“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you,
and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great;
for in the same way they persecuted the prophets
who were before you.

Matthew 5:11-12 NASB1995
