For those who know baking, you know that cakes, cookies, and brownies contain similar ingredients—however, different proportions and ways of processing lead to different products. Even if you have the same coffee bean, if you plant them in different locations, process them differently, and roast them under various conditions, you will end up with coffees with different characteristics and flavor profiles. 

Similarly, in Christ, we are new creations. The old has gone, and the new is here (2 Corinthians 5:17). We all start with a new identity: freed from slavery, redeemed bride of Christ, beloved children of God. He plants His word in us, the Word that sanctifies us, grows, and bears fruit. He has put every ingredient necessary for His great plan in you. You have every access to His goodness, kindness, joy, peace, love, and mercy, not only for yourself but also to pass it on to others. He has put His good works in you for others to see. He has placed His light to shine in you. More importantly, He has put His Spirit in you to comfort, teach, guide, and help you in the way you should go.

However, depending on how He takes, shapes, and molds you, you will be different from your neighbors or fellow brethren in Christ. That’s how the Church is. The body of Christ is a diverse family composed of unique individuals who received the same Spirit. None of you will be exactly the same. Each of us will serve with unique sets of gifts and skillsets the Holy Spirit has equipped us with, but no one can boast about it, as none of you is irreplaceable in the body of Christ.

However, God enjoys partnering with us. He doesn’t have to, but He wants us to participate in the works He does in and through us. So my questions today are: how do you respond to Him? How much would you yield yourself to His processes? How much would you allow Him to take charge of your life? Are you in the correct posture to receive His guidance today? Remember, you are set up for greatness, but how you respond will determine the results. Also, remember that one day we will face the White Throne where we will give account to everything we do on earth (Revelation 20:11-15).
