Day 3 – God wants to deliver you

““For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

– Romans 1:17 NKJV

Faith is the bedrock of our personal walk with Christ, and faith in deliverance is knowing that – God wants us to be free (2 Corinthians 3:17). Oftentimes, we become so used to carrying the weight of our burdens and sufferings that we have resigned to accept those as the norm in various aspects of our lives. Unwillingly, the disease, addiction, or destructive habit takes so much space and affects our lives to such a great extent that it even becomes our identity. We are no more John or Kelly, we are ‘John the drug addict’, ‘Kelly the barren’, or ‘Bintu the alcoholic’. But today, we want to share with you the good news that your struggles and burdens do not define you; as a matter of fact God wants to deliver you from all of them.

In Mark 9:14-29, we read the story of a demon-possessed boy who was brought to Jesus for deliverance. Because Jesus was on the mountain praying, the disciples tried to deliver the boy but couldn’t (Mark 9:18). Picture the feeling of this distraught father at that moment; He probably lost the little faith and hope he had. Maybe it is the same in your life? Maybe you are reading this today and thinking ‘I have already tried breaking free from this yoke, I have tried all the rehabilitation programs, therapies and spiritual counseling available out there but alas, none has been successful’. Jesus often allows us to go to that place, where in our own despair we become completely certain that our deliverance can only come from Jehovah Mephalti (Lord my Deliverer). In that moment, if we humble ourselves, turn to Jesus and confess our unbelief  like the father did, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24), what follows is our glorious deliverance through Jesus’ name! God loves you and it breaks His heart to see you in bondage. Not only can He deliver you, but He strongly desires to do so! Let not your own faithlessness and dignity stand in the way of your deliverance. Today, believe that what Jesus spoke to the boy’s father is the same promise He is speaking to you as you seek His divine deliverance, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23).

Let’s pray:
Father Lord, I am thankful that You are my Jehovah Mephalti. If there is any area in my life where I live in bondage, speak to me today about it. And in all the bondages You have revealed to me, I seek faith and grace to be delivered in Jesus’ name. Lord, help me in my unbelief, I confess my lack of faith to you. But Jesus, You are the perfecter of my faith; perfect my faith today and fill me with a supernatural faith. By faith I proclaim my victory over all bondages in my life, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
