Deepening Hunger and Risk of Famine in War-Torn Sudan

As of June 1, 2026, Sudan is facing a rapidly worsening hunger crisis in the midst of ongoing civil war, with nearly 20 million people experiencing acute food insecurity and some areas approaching conditions close to famine. Widespread displacement, collapsing health and food systems, disrupted markets, and continued fighting have left families without steady access to food, safe water, or medical care, while humanitarian agencies warn that more than 800,000 children under five are at risk of severe acute malnutrition this year if assistance cannot reach them in time.

Let’s Pray:

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

— Psalm 23:1 NKJV

Report date: June 1, 2026

Country: Sudan
