Is it time to make restitution and repent?

Habakkuk 2:9 exposes the futility of trying to outrun “disaster” by accumulating wealth. It describes a person trying to build a fortress out of their own greed. This prayer is a Surrender of the Fortress. By identifying with Zacchaeus, you are inviting Jesus “into your house.” This is the only way to truly be delivered from the power of disaster—not by having a high nest, but by knowing the truth and living it will free us, for only the truth can set us free. You are now trading the “evil gain” for the “eternal gain” of a clean conscience.

Let’s Pray

Lord Jesus, I come before You like Zacchaeus (Luke 19:2-5), acknowledging the times I have coveted evil gain for my own house. I confess my deceit and my hunger for what is not mine. Forgive me for trying to build my “nest” on high through my own strength or through the wronging of others. If I have taken anything falsely, I am ready to restore it (Luke 19:8). Humble me from every high place of pride I have built. Take away my heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26)—one that does not covet or seek selfish gain. I lay down the idols and the lies I have believed for years. I trust Your mercy more than my own efforts to deliver myself from disaster. Lord, protect my household from the consequences of my mistakes. Do not let evil find its way into my children’s lives. Wash us in Your boundless love and make us a family that serves You forever (Joshua 24:15). Let Your mercy triumph over judgment in our home (James 2:13) and let us see Your salvation (Luke 19:9-10). Grant me the wisdom of Your Kingdom (James 1:5). Help me to live a blameless life, shunning evil and seeking only what is noble and praiseworthy in Your sight. You are my Father, and I owe my life to You alone. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

“Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house, That he may set his nest on high, That he may be delivered from the power of disaster!”

‭‭ Habakkuk‬ ‭2‬:‭9 ‭NKJV
