More than 700 dead in Congo’s civil conflicts

Last week, rebel group M23, took control of Goma in eastern Congo. The city of 2 million residents was swarmed by the rebel group composed of the minority Tutsis, who clashed with the DR Congo army and its allies in a lightning advance. Estimates put that at least 700 have died and 3000 more injured, with hospitals treating the injured now running short on medical staff. M23 is allegedly backed by the Rwandan government and has vowed to push forward in its conquest of the capital city of Kinshasa.

Let’s Pray:

Father, we pray and ask for peace and comfort in the lives of those affected by this civil war in Congo. We pray for the healing of the sick and strength to all the medical staff in the hospitals. We ask that in Your mercies You would cover the nation of DR Congo in Your surpassing peace and rest. And may every Congolese come to the saving knowledge of You, in Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

The Lord will give strength to His people;
The Lord will bless His people with peace.

Psalm 29:11
