Reported rape cases in Brazil reached an all-time high last year, amounting to 74 930 cases, with 61.4% being children aged 13 or younger. All types of violence against minors increased, including child maltreatment (up 13.8%), child and youth pornography (7%) and sexual exploitation (16.4%). Femicides grew by 6.1% and other forms of sexual violence, including stalking, assault and harassment, registered sharp increases.
Let’s Pray:
Father, we raise Brazil into Your hands. We ask for Your mercy upon the women and female teenagers who were violated there. May You console and comfort them, strengthen and encourage them. Tell them how lovely and precious they are in Your eyes; that there is still hope because You have beautiful plans for their lives. May You restore whatever the enemy has stolen from them and let them live in abundant joy in You. May You hear their cries and avenge them, as the vengeance is Yours. In Jesus’ name, we pray, amen.
