The foundation of true service and love is established by first serving and loving God. When we align our vertical relationship with the Father, our horizontal relationships with people find their true purpose.
1- To please people, first please God.
“For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.” — Galatians 1:10
2- To love others, first love God.
“We love Him because He first loved us… And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.” — 1 John 4:19, 21
3- To honor others, first honor God.
“Therefore the Lord God of Israel says… ‘those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.’” — 1 Samuel 2:30
4- To give to others, first give to God.
“Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty…” — Proverbs 3:9-10
5- To obey man, first obey God.
“But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: ‘We ought to obey God rather than men.’” — Acts 5:29
Our true service is established by first serving God. Before you try to please the world, make sure you have pleased your Creator. Before you try to love others, be filled with His love first. God must always come first. Put Him at the center today! God has to always come first in anything we want to do—whether for ourselves or with others.
‘’Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.’’
—1 Corinthians 10:31
