U.S.–Israeli Strikes in Iran Deepen Regional Turmoil

Iranians and others across the Middle East awoke to a region in turmoil after U.S. and Israeli airstrikes killed Iran’s supreme leader and triggered a second day of large-scale attacks. Israel’s military launched new waves of strikes against targets it calls part of “the Iranian terror regime” in the heart of Tehran, while Iran continued firing missiles and drones at Israel and U.S. bases in Gulf states, Iraq, and Jordan. Iran also announced the closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz and threatened an even larger barrage of attacks, raising fears of a wider regional war and severe disruption to global oil supplies.

Let’s Pray:

Lord Jesus, we lift up the people of Iran and the wider Middle East as they face the fear, shock, and uncertainty of these escalating strikes and counterstrikes. You see every family sheltering from explosions, every person anxiously listening for news, and every heart overwhelmed by grief and dread—have mercy on them, O God. Stretch out Your hand to shield civilians in Iran, Israel, and across the region; limit the reach and impact of every weapon, and frustrate plans that would lead to wider war and greater destruction. Grant wisdom, restraint, and humility to leaders in every nation involved, that they would choose de-escalation, truth, and justice rather than revenge and pride. Strengthen churches and believers throughout the region to be messengers of Your peace and compassion in this dark hour, and reveal Yourself as the Prince of Peace to many who are searching for hope. In Your mighty name, Jesus, Amen.

“He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.”

Psalm 46:9 NKJV
