Update on the Ukraine-Russia war

With an estimated number of more than 148,000 people killed (military and civilians), the Ukraine-Russia war is quickly becoming the bloodiest war of the 21st century and the deadliest in Europe since WW2, 80 years ago. This toll is said to be a conservative estimate, with the actual number being much higher than this reported figure. Russia continued its aggression against Ukraine in this week, launching an attack on Dobropillya, in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, killing 11. This unrelenting attack comes in the wake of last week’s widely televised breakdown in ceasefire talks between the U.S. President, Donald Trump and Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Donald Trump has vowed to mediate peace between the countries, with the American delegate meeting with their Russian counterparts in Saudi Arabia last month and a potential meeting with their Ukrainian counterparts in the upcoming week. With the war having entered its fourth year, on February 24, 2025, this is the first time in the last 3 years that peace is even being considered.

Let’s Pray:

Father LORD, we pray for the comfort of those affected by this greatly unimaginable loss of lives, on both the Ukrainian and Russian sides. We pray for the hundreds of thousands who are further injured during this war, to make full-recovery and be mentally healed of all traumas. We pray for Your peace amidst the troubled seas in their hearts. We pray for strength and faith to look unto You in this dark time. We pray for Your church to become as a city on the hill. We pray Your Word become the refuge to the weak and the helpless. We ask for wisdom in the leaders to mediate peace and to end this war. We proclaim the power of Your grace upon this situation in Jesus name. May every Ukrainian and Russian seek the true victory of salvation over sins in Jesus alone, who saves. Amen.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’  But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Matthew 5:43-45
