Only one Way to go

“For this is what the Lord says—
he who created the heavens,
    he is God;
he who fashioned and made the earth,
    he founded it;
he did not create it to be empty,
    but formed it to be inhabited—
he says:
“I am the Lord,
    and there is no other.
“Turn to me and be saved,
    all you ends of the earth;
    for I am God, and there is no other.
By myself I have sworn,
    my mouth has uttered in all integrity
    a word that will not be revoked:
Before me every knee will bow;
    by me every tongue will swear.
They will say of me, ‘In the Lord alone
    are deliverance and strength.’”
All who have raged against him
    will come to him and be put to shame.
But all the descendants of Israel
    will find deliverance in the Lord
    and will make their boast in him.”

Isaiah 45:18, 22-25

Some people want to believe in God but have difficulties comprehending Him with science or their minds. Or, they cannot break free from traditions of worshipping ancestral spirits or their comforts. Yes, their comforts, because when their worship of God contradicts their comforts, they start to question and wonder if that is necessary. If God is all-loving and all-compassionate, why does He create a set of rules that are difficult to attain?

Indeed, many want to be gods and worshipped, including ourselves. But the truth is, God is the only One; there is no one else like Him. You need nothing and no one else. He is a jealous God. He has His personality and preferences. He gives us His commands and Word to show us who He is. He loves us, absolutely, but we also need to love Him with all our strength, heart, soul, and mind (Luke 10:27). We cannot love Him more than we love ourselves, our family, our comfort, our jobs, or even our ministries. We cannot put Him on par with any other gods.

How can we explain the Creator of heavens, earth, and everything in it, with our limited brains? How can we compare our finite selves, who don’t even know what we want, on par with Him, who has no beginning and no end? How can we worship mountains, stars, seas, the creations who melt like wax in the presence of the Creator? Even worse, how can we put trust in witchcraft, sorcery, astrology, tarots, or similar, filled with demonic powers who only want to steal, kill, and destroy our lives?

Being all-knowing, loving, and compassionate, God also knows we will fail at times. Look at the Israelites. Every time they promised to obey, they would fail again not long after. God knows we cannot do it with our own strength. That’s why He gave us Jesus Christ to die for our sins and fulfill the Law. That’s why He sent us His Holy Spirit to teach us all things and remind us what Jesus has said (John 14:26). Because of Jesus, even if we fall, we can ask God for forgiveness and rise again. Because of Jesus, even if we drift away unknowingly, we know that we can return to Him, and He will receive us back. Because of Jesus, our High Priest who empathizes with our weaknesses, we can confidently approach the Throne of Grace so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16-18).

As the Bible verse above said, “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.” Like it or not, agree or not, sooner or later, every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. But why would we let ourselves live another day in lies, deception, and self-reliance if today we can receive and walk in the Truth with the God who loves and cares for us?

Will you turn to God today?  Will you believe and accept Jesus Christ as the Only Way, Truth, and Life? Will you promise to make Him the One and Only, today and onward? Will you ask for His Spirit to help you walk in obedience to Him? I pray that we will harden our hearts no longer and say yes. Amen.
