A Prayer for Comfort, Mercy, and Peace in Krakow

Deadly Shooting in Central Krakow Leaves Six Dead, Three More Found at Suspect’s Home

A 25-year-old gunman opened fire at random in Krakow’s bustling Main Market Square before being shot and arrested by police within three minutes. Shortly before 15:00 local time, the suspect drove into the square and began firing at pedestrians and a passing tram. Armed officers engaged him in a gunfight within three minutes, preventing a larger massacre. Six people (four women and two men, including a British national and three Polish citizens) were killed in the square. Sixteen others were hospitalized, including five foreigners and two police officers—one of whom is in critical condition after being shot three times. Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that three additional bodies (two women and one man) were discovered during a police search of the gunman’s residence. The 25-year-old Polish suspect wore military-style attire and carried a military-grade weapon, with more firearms and ammunition found in his vehicle. Early investigations indicate he was inspired by far-right, ultra-nationalist ideologies. Krakow Mayor Łukasz Gibała declared a period of mourning through Wednesday, November 11, as PM Donald Tusk, President Karol Nawrocki, and international leaders condemned the “savage and murderous attack.

Let’s Pray:

“The Lord is their strength, and He is the saving refuge of His anointed. Save Your people, and bless Your inheritance; Shepherd them also, and bear them up forever.”

— Psalm 28:8-9 NKJV
