“Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”
Matthew 28:16-20
Before Jesus ascended to heaven, He instructed His disciples to meet Him on Mount Olive, where He gave them the Great Commission. This same commission applies to us today as well, we who took the decision to become Jesus’ disciples. It is important to realize that we cannot fulfill the Great Commission on our own, we need the Church, the whole body of Christ, to walk and move together. The Church family was never only meant to enjoy the fellowship, spiritual gifts, blessings, peace, joy, and all other good things God has given us, but also to reach out, bring the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ, and bear witness of His love to everyone, altogether. Isn’t it wonderful to be in His family?
Let’s pray:
God, I want to thank You for Your Church, where I not only enjoy the fellowship with others and Your blessings, but also fulfill the mission You have given us. I want to thank You for this mission, because now I know that we have our purpose in You, and we are not wandering around without any destination. Thank You because I know that I am not doing this on my own, as You promised that You are with me, and I am doing it together with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank You for the privilege to represent You and be Your ambassador in this world. Thank You for entrusting us with Your word; the truth and power that saves people. Help me to spread Your good news and be Your witness today. Amen.
