“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
James 1: 27 NIV
Praise be to our God who never forgets the poor and the needy and chooses to bless them and watch over them daily. Let us thank God for partnering with His Church to show His love, compassion, and care to those who need it the most, the outcasts, the broken, the poor and the needy.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.’’
Matthew 5:3-6
Let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, You became poor for my sake even though You are rich in all things so that I may live and be saved. God, thank you for being a caring and loving Father. Your love is not only limited to me, but to all Your children over the world, both the lost and those who have already made it back home. Thank You for using the church, the Christian community to meet the needs of others in our society. You do not want Christians to cater only to their own needs, but as You do not discriminate amongst Your children You expect us to do the same. Thank you for using us to impact the communities, cities, and countries that we are established in by feeding the hungry, providing shelter to the homeless, comfort to the brokenhearted and a loving community to the outcasts and rejects. As You are a generous God, thank you for being so good and kind to all people and teaching Your church how to persevere in good works until You return. Amen.
