Haiti’s Hidden Displacement Emergency Amid Escalating Insecurity

Haiti is facing a rapidly worsening internal displacement crisis as spiraling gang violence, insecurity, and economic collapse force families to flee their homes in search of safety. According to the latest data, about 1,450,254 people are now internally displaced across the country, many sheltering in overcrowded and poorly serviced sites such as schools, makeshift camps, and public buildings. Persistent insecurity, limited access to basic services, and chronic underfunding of the humanitarian response are leaving displaced families increasingly vulnerable to hunger, disease, and exploitation.

Let’s Pray:

Lord Jesus, we lift up the people of Haiti who have been driven from their homes by violence, fear, and deep instability. You see every family crammed into overcrowded shelters, every child who cannot go to school, and every parent who does not know how they will feed or protect their loved ones—have mercy on them, O God. Stretch out Your hand to restrain gangs and those who wield weapons unjustly, to protect civilians, and to open safe passages for food, water, medical care, and shelter to reach every displaced community. Strengthen churches, local leaders, and humanitarian workers who continue to serve in dangerous and exhausting conditions; fill them with Your courage, wisdom, and love. Move the hearts of Haiti’s leaders and the international community to pursue justice, security, and long-term solutions, and let many in Haiti encounter You as their Rock, Refuge, and Restorer. In Your mighty name, Jesus, Amen.

“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.”
