This prayer touches on one of the hardest parts of faith: Watching the “unfairness” of the world while knowing God is good. Habakkuk is essentially asking, “If You are so pure, how can You stand to watch this?” Our prayer turns this question into an Appeal of the Case. You are reminding God of His own resume (David and the lion) and His own promises (the future and a hope). This is not a prayer of doubt, but a prayer of Expectation. You are holding God to His character. By asking Him not to “fold His arms,” you are practicing the kind of bold intercession that moves heaven.

Let’s Pray

Father, Your eyes are too pure to behold evil, and Your heart is too holy to look upon wickedness. I acknowledge Your greatness—You who formed humanity as numerous as the stars and the sand. I worship You for Your perfect purity. But Lord, I cry out to You: why do You remain silent while the treacherous devour those more righteous than themselves? Do not stay afar off while Your people are victimized. Do not let evil men determine our future or allow our children to be bound by the shadows of this world. If You do not come to save us, who will? You who delivered David from the paw of the lion and the bear, come now to our aid! Deliver us from nations and forces stronger than we are. Do not let us be mere prey for the wicked, but let those who trust in Your name see Your salvation manifest in our lives. Hurry, Lord—rescue us without delay. We refuse to be like fish in the sea with no ruler; we claim You as our King and Protector. We look to You, Yahweh, for the hope and the future You promised. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
