Love Never Fails

Love is a dual reflection. Just as a coin has two sides, our spiritual walk requires a balance: rendering unto God the devotion due to Him, and rendering unto others the compassion they deserve. As Jesus taught, we must give to “Caesar” what is his, but our hearts belong entirely to God (Mark 12:17).

The Source Before the Stream

We cannot truly pour into others if we have not first been filled. We love because He first loved us. Love is not just an attribute of God; God is Love (1 John 4:8). This love is:

  • Endless and Unconditional: It is the only force in the universe that never fails.
  • Inseparable: Neither tribulation, distress, nor peril can sever the bond between the Creator and His creation (Romans 8:35).
  • Unbreakable: Like a “cord of three strands,” the unity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit provides the ultimate blueprint for our own relationships and marriages. (Ecclesiastes 4:12)

The Fruit of the Spirit

When we abide in the Vine, we begin to bear fruit. The first and greatest fruit is Love. This is not a passive feeling but a sacrificial action. It is patient, kind, and selfless and easily forgives. It does not seek its own way; it seeks the reconciliation and restoration of others. To say we love God while harboring bitterness toward our neighbor is a contradiction; for if we cannot love the brother we see, how can we claim to love the God we cannot see? (1 John 4:20).

The Three Pillars of Christ’s Love

In the life of Jesus, we see the perfect demonstration of love through three qualities:

  1. Commitment: He remained faithful to the Father’s will until the very end.
  2. Consistency: His desire for our salvation never wavers and never changes.
  3. Sacrifice: He laid down His life as a living sacrifice so that we might trade our sin for His everlasting life. Love is a verb, and its greatest expression is sacrifice.

The Parable of the Prince

Imagine a kingdom of great peace and prosperity. Suddenly, a dark terror swept across the land—a plague that no physician could cure and no ruler could stop. The hearts of the people were heavy with grief as they watched their world crumble.

The High Priest revealed a difficult truth: the only way to end the calamity was the sacrifice of the King’s only son—the Prince, the light of the kingdom’s future. Though the King’s heart was overwhelmed with a father’s sorrow, his love for his people was even greater.

To save the many, the King offered his only Son. In that moment of profound sacrifice, the plague ceased, the terror fled, and life was restored to the land.

In the Kingdom of God, love isn’t just a feeling—it’s a commitment. Just as the King in the parable offered his only son to end the plague and restore peace to his people, God offered His Son, Jesus, to break the power of sin and bring us into marvelous light.

This is the heart of the Gospel. God so loved the world (John 3:16)—even in our brokenness and disobedience—that He gave His only begotten Son. He does not tolerate the evil that destroys us, but He deeply loves the beautiful souls He created, as we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). He sacrificed the Prince of Peace to break the plague of sin, inviting us to return to our “First Love” and live forever till eternity.

A Call to Love

Sow love, and you will reap love. Perfect love casts out all fear, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is true freedom. Today, let everything you do be done in love—not for the sake of doctrine alone, but for the sake of the people God treasures (John 13:34-35).

Thus, the love of the flesh, which leads all men into lust, will shrivel, yet God’s love for us will never fail. Man may forsake Christ because of our unbelief, but God will never forsake any man. So let no one lie and say that God has failed me or forsaken me. “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” (Psalm 37:25)

God’s love never fails. It never dies. It never ceases.

Daily Affirmation: “The Flow of Love”

Today, I recognize that God loved me first. Because I am rooted in His unconditional and failing love, I have an endless supply to give to others. I am a vessel for His peace and kindness. I will sow love in every interaction, knowing that I am protected by the ‘cord of three strands’ that cannot be broken. I walk in freedom, for Perfect Love has cast out all my fear.

Today, let’s be the evidence of God’s love to someone else. Sow a seed of kindness, offer a word of grace, and remember: Love Never Fails.

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails...

‭‭ 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NKJV
