Persecuted Christians in Yemen – Hidden but Growing Faith

International Christian Concern reports that at least 20 Yemeni Christians have recently been arrested simply “for the crime of following Christ,” many taken from their homes or off the streets in areas controlled by the Houthi movement. Some are confirmed to be held in Houthi-run prisons, while others have disappeared, likely facing torture or even death because of their faith. Human rights observers note that this crackdown actually reveals a quietly growing Christian presence in Yemen, significant enough to draw a harsh response in a country that ranks among the very worst in the world for Christian persecution.

Let’s Pray:

Lord Jesus, we bring before You our brothers and sisters in Yemen whose names and faces are hidden from the world, but fully known to You. Strengthen those who are imprisoned, tortured, or threatened with death because they refuse to deny Your name; surround them with Your presence, give them endurance, and let Your peace guard their hearts. Comfort the families of those who have disappeared and provide trustworthy channels of information and support in the midst of war and chaos. We ask that You restrain the hands of Houthi officials and all armed groups who persecute Christians, and that You turn even persecutors into Paul-like witnesses of the gospel. Let the underground Yemeni church continue to grow in purity, courage, and love, and may many in Yemen encounter the hope of Christ through the testimony of these suffering believers. In Your powerful name, Jesus, Amen.

“We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair.”

2 Corinthians 4:8 NKJV
