This prayer captures the God of the Unexpected. Habakkuk was looking at a dark situation, yet God promised a work that would leave him “utterly astounded.” The prayer reflects a beautiful paradox: it asks for Destruction (tearing down walls and idols) as a prerequisite for Restoration (rebuilding wasted cities). It recognizes that for a “Great Revival” to happen, the ground must first be cleared. By calling for “kings and nations” to bow, we  are aligning our hearts with the Great Commission, trusting that God’s “everlasting love” is the most powerful force for change in the entire universe.

Let’s Pray

God of wonders, mighty and great, I look to the nations and watch for Your move. Perform the work in my days that is so incredible it would be hard to believe—a work that only You can do. Come, Lord, and tear down every altar and idol that exalts itself against You. Break every stronghold and rebuild the desolate places of our nations. Rain down Your blessings and pour out Your Spirit abundantly, that hearts may break in repentance and turn towards You. Glorify Yourself with deeds beyond what no eye has seen, no ear has heard. Manifest Your power within us; revive Your Church and ignite a revival that will astonish the entire world. May the old dream dreams, the young see new visions, and every tongue prophesy of Your greatness. Let kings and nations come to the knowledge of the truth and bow in awe before You and worship. Increase Your mercy and grace among us, filling our hearts with an overflowing joy and an everlasting love that never fails. In the mighty and majestic name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
