This prayer addresses the Sovereignty of God over our Struggles. Habakkuk 1:6 is a difficult verse because it says God raised up the bitter nation. Our prayer navigates this by moving from Fear to Favor. It acknowledges that while God may allow trials to arise, He is also the only one who can “divert” them. By emphasizing that you are part of a “holy nation,” you are reminding yourself (and the heavens) of your true identity. You aren’t just a victim of circumstance; you are a “humble vessel” under the protection of the Most High. The goal of this prayer isn’t just to escape trouble, but to ensure that even in the midst of it, you are “abiding in Him,” who is the King of Glory.
Let’s Pray
Lord of All, how vast is Your dominion and how magnificent are Your works! I am Yours, and I rest in Your promise that You will never forsake or abandon me. You are my Shield and my Great Reward. Father, I ask You to turn away the “Chaldeans”—any bitter or hasty force that rises to exploit me or seize what You have rightfully given me. Let not oppression claim my peace or my dwelling. Where the enemy seeks to bring shame, cover me instead with Your glorious protection. I admit my failings, Lord. Though my love for You is imperfect, Your name is always on my lips, and Your Word is in my heart. Do not bring judgment upon me, but extend Your grace according to Your tender mercies. Forgive me as I humble myself before You. Pardon my sins for the sake of Your love, so that I may abide in You and You in me. Let Your name be glorified in my life and throughout the heavens, now and forever. In the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
— Habakkuk 1:6 NKJV
“For indeed I am raising up the Chaldeans, A bitter and hasty nation Which marches through the breadth of the earth, To possess dwelling places that are not theirs.”
