Trade earthly judgment for Divine Truth

This prayer beautifully contrasts the Cavalry of Christ with the Cavalry of the Enemy. The scripture in Habakkuk describes an enemy that is “swifter than leopards” and “fierce as wolves”—an image of relentless, predatory power. Our prayer counters this by asking for a different kind of “charger”: the Holy Spirit. We are choosing to be “hastened” by God’s purpose rather than being hunted by the world’s dread. By linking the “wings of the eagle” to the “wisdom of the serpent,” we are acknowledging that the believer’s survival in a “terrible” world depends on Divine Perspective. We aren’t asking for the wolves to disappear; we  are asking for the spiritual equipment to outsoar them.

Let’s Pray

O Lord, Highest and Supreme Judge, You reign over all the earth. From Your throne, You see the terrible and dreadful judgments of men. I look to You to end the strife of nations and replace the pride of man with Your divine truth. Lord, protect our dignity and integrity, for they are found in You alone. Let the blood that flowed from Calvary wash over us, cleansing our hands and our land from bloodshed. Forgive us our judgments of others, and measure out to us Your abundant mercy instead. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit—our true Guide and Charger. Even as the world hastens toward evil, make us zealous for the coming of Your Kingdom. Renew our strength like the eagle’s; give us wings to soar above the chaos and feet to stand on Your exalted places. As You send us out as sheep among wolves, grant us the wisdom of serpents and the harmlessness of doves. Keep us from being consumed by the darkness as we seek Your face, and let Your will be accomplished in us today. In the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

“They are terrible and dreadful; Their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves. Their horses also are swifter than leopards, And more fierce than evening wolves. Their chargers charge ahead; Their cavalry comes from afar; They fly as the eagle that hastens to eat.”
