Trading Pride For Faith And Humility, The Great Exchange!

This prayer centers on the most famous verse in Habakkuk—the verse that sparked the Reformation. It presents a clear contrast: the Proud (whose soul is not upright) versus the Just (who lives by faith). Our prayer recognizes that pride is a form of spiritual “crookedness,” while faith is what makes a person “upright.” By linking this to Philippians 2:8, you are anchoring your daily behavior in the Mindset of Christ. You aren’t just trying to be “nicer”; you are asking for a fundamental heart transformation that values God’s approval over human applause.

Let’s Pray

Lord Jesus, I praise Your holy name. You are the ultimate embodiment of humility, becoming obedient even to death on a cross. Teach me to embrace Your meekness and gentleness. Forgive me for the times I have exalted myself or sought my own glory. Guard my heart against a haughty spirit, for I know that pride precedes a fall. Your Word declares that the just shall live by faith. Strengthen my belief in You today, for I know it is impossible to please You without it. Remove any self-deception that makes me feel superior to others. Instead, clothe me with humility so that I may walk uprightly and bring You glory rather than shame. Root out all arrogance within me. Help me to stop trusting in worldly riches and place my total confidence in You. Increase my faith beyond my fears and bolster my belief beyond my doubts. Make me as innocent as a dove, and bold as a lion in my witness and as strong as an eagle in my spirit. Just like David, ”Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” I desire to live by faith every single day, following the example of those who trusted You wholeheartedly, heroes like Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, and Moses. To You alone be all honor and power and dominion forever and ever. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

“Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.”

‭‭ Habakkuk‬ ‭2‬:‭4 ‭NKJV
