Israeli air and artillery strikes across Beirut, southern, and eastern Lebanon have killed more than 120 people and forced tens of thousands to flee their homes under mass evacuation orders. The UN human rights chief has warned that these sweeping displacement orders, affecting elderly people, the sick, and those with disabilities, may violate international humanitarian law and amount to forced transfers. The International Committee of the Red Cross is struggling to evacuate patients from hospitals and move vital medical supplies as bombardments and damaged infrastructure make safe movement increasingly dangerous.
Let’s Pray:
Lord Jesus, we lift before You the people of Lebanon who are facing sudden violence, loss, and mass displacement. You see every family fleeing under bombardment, every patient moved from a hospital bed in fear, and every person who does not know where they will sleep tonight—have mercy on them, O God. Protect civilians from further harm, grant safety to those evacuating under fire, and make a way for hospitals, clinics, and humanitarian workers to continue their lifesaving work. Give wisdom and courage to leaders and mediators who can help de-escalate this crisis, and restrain those who would choose more destruction over peace. Strengthen Your church in Lebanon to be a refuge of practical help, prayer, and hope, and reveal Yourself as the Prince of Peace to many whose hearts are trembling. In Your mighty name, Jesus, Amen.
